Grain Testing and Grading Procedures

Yellow Shelled Corn moistures will be averaged down to 14.5% for storage and 15.0% for cash, contracts, and delayed pricing. Moisture below 14.0% will be marked dry and the 14.0% used for averaging.

Yellow Soybean moistures will be averaged on a daily basis from 15.0% down to 12.0%. Moisture less than 12.0% will be marked dry and the 12.0% used for averaging. Beans in excess of 15.0% moisture will not be averaged. Beans over 17.0% are subject to rejection.

Soft Red Winter Wheat moistures will be averaged from 16.0% down to 12.0%. Moistures less than 12.0% will be marked dry and the 12.0% used for averaging. Wheat over 16.0% moisture is not acceptable for delivery.

Each load of grain delivered will be tested for moisture and quality.

Discount factors of individual load samples will be averaged over the entire delivery to determine final discounts with the exception of soybean moistures, which are averaged on a daily delivery basis.

If there is a question concerning any grading factor other than moisture, a composite sample will be kept and graded as a combined sample rather than each individual load.

For the best interest of both parties, a composite which carries discounts other than moisture will be sent to the Federal Grain Inspection Service for grading.  Settlements will be made on the basis of the FGIS grade.
